Paul Schulenburg’s paintings honor and preserve the living heritage of Chatham’s fishing fleet. Twenty years ago, when artist and illustrator Paul Schulenburg brought out his oil paints after not touching them for years, he found himself at the Chatham Fish Pier, searching for inspiration. “It was an overcast spring day, one of those gloomy Cape Cod days that is beautiful in its own right,” says Schulenburg.
Building on the success of Hangar B Eatery, located at Chatham Municipal Airport on George Ryder Road, owner Tracy Shields has partnered with long-time associate Kourtney Keil to embark on a new venture—B-Side Coffee Company, which offers a delicious selection of locally roasted organic and fair-trade coffee. “Since opening Hangar B nine years ago, we have poured a Papua New Guinea bean that was roasted here in Chatham,” says Shields, referring to The Art of Roasting coffee company.
Sushi lovers roll with it. On a recent night at Bluefins Sushi & Sake Bar, Chef Kee is the teacher and his eight dinner guests are his students. The three-hour event—“Break Down a Tuna with Chef Kee”—offers not only the best and freshest fish you have ever tasted, but also a behind-the-scenes look at sushi making.
